We have a fantastic variety of workshops, performances and exhibitions here on Friday 18 August for our Community Celebration Day.

11am – 3pm
Drop in activities including: Persian calligraphy, eco craft activities, photo exhibition and film screenings.

Performances including Indian dance, spoken word and Goldies Cymru.

Goldies Cymru will be offering a sing-along of some classic well known songs.

Photography Storytelling with Unify Creative
Responsible for some of the most important art and cultural projects in the city, UNIFY’s mission is to make the creative industry in Wales more inclusive and accessible. Come along to learn how to take photographs that share your story.
Ages 12+

Classical Indian Dancing workshop with SamarpanNrithyalay
With a view to promoting the beautiful and rich art form of Bharathanatyam to the younger generation Dr Leena Menon founded Samarpan Nrithyalaya in 2017 to promote Indian classical dance in its purest form. Come along to the taster to have a go at this beautiful artform.

Welsh Language Story Telling with Stacey Blythe
Join us for magical tales, interweaving live harp music with Welsh and English stories.

West African Drumming with River Music
A Community Music Project in Riverside Cardiff based around performance and participatory workshops celebrating the rich cultural life of the communities in Riverside, Cardiff. Join this West African Drumming taster to try the djembes drum.

A classical Indian dance performance from Samarpan Nrithyalaya (between 10-15 min performance)

United2Change are offering Somalian cultural performances from their young people (between 10-15 min performance)

Performance by the Waulah community
Waulah Cymru represents a 500-strong, multi-generational community, of Pakistani heritage, defined by unity and togetherness. We are delighted to return to the Sherman to perform again, seven years after we staged Home, exploring the community’s roots in Pakistan and growing sense of belonging in Cardiff. We have enjoyed reflecting on that profound experience and continuing our story, through the younger generation, who are excited to consider and celebrate their dual nationality in performance, as well as their love of all things cricket!
