We want to include as many communities as we can from across the city so if you, or your community group, would like to get involved, have a look at the options below and decide how you would like to take part!
SHARE OR PERFORM IN OUR FOYER OR STUDIO: Whether it’s poetry, spoken word, singing, music, dance, or something else we haven’t thought of, we would love to showcase your creativity. Performance slots can vary from 5 minutes to 20 minutes.
BE PART OF AN EXHIBITION: If performance isn’t for you, perhaps you would like to be included in our exhibition of Cardiff communities. Your submission might be as simple as a photograph of your community, with a brief explanation about your group or activities, an object that helps to tell your story, or a piece of artwork you have created together. We will be working with the brilliant Nathan Wyburn to turn some of your images into a new composition, to hang in our foyer during the exhibition!
FACILITATE A WORKSHOP: Sometimes the best way to share what you do, is by doing it! We’ll be hosting a variety of workshops to bring the communities of Cardiff together, so if you could lead a practical session, or run an arts and crafts table, we’d really like to hear from you.
SHORT FILM SHARING: We know that lots of communities make, or have co-created, their own films about themselves, or the things that matter to them. We want to share these in our pop-up cinema and show just what extraordinary things can be achieved when people come together.
Sherman Theatre wants to generate opportunities for the people of Cardiff to connect with theatre and creativity – whatever their age or background. By empowering our communities to tell their stories we become a force for empathy, compassion and unity. If you and/or members of your community organisation would like to get involved please email community@shermantheatre.co.uk or complete our sign up form, to register your interest.
